I don't know the programme but Macy Gray sang "I Try", and lines from the song went:

"I try to say goodbye and I choke
I try to walk away and I stumble
Though I try to hide it it's clear
My world crumbles when you are not near"

The singer was Kate Bush I believe. It's a while since WAAIS was on the telly, but I'm pretty certain it was her. I think the same tune is being used in NSPCC ads. Dunno what it is without checking but it is on her new album. Best go to a CD site where you can hear samples and find out.
