I'm pretty sure I've seen these in my garden in the past. Or maybe a bug very similar to a stink bug.

Something to look out for or even smell out!

I've seen similar, but probably one of the many harmless native species.
I get lots of shield bugs on my living room window (outside) in the summer but they are very green.
I don't think they actually 'stink', but I could be wrong. There is a lime green one that I see sometimes in the summer (not the same one obviously !) and it is quite pretty to look at. I never thought they were a pest.

What does 'stink' mean?
// What does 'stink' mean? //

what it says on the tin. they have the ability to exude a smelly liquid when attacked or threatened.
Question Author
Would it just be smelly to other minibeasts or humans as well?
according to an American pest control company, they smell pretty evil and if they get fried in light fittings, etc (whilst over-wintering indoors away from the cold), the result can require a property to be fumigated.

Crikey! Sounds nasty.
