When Was The Last Time You Sewed A Button On A Shirt?

When I was little my mother seemed to be sewing buttons on every night. The mangle really did mangle them and later the spin dryer had a good go.
I don't think I have lost a button on anything for at least 30 years.

I've got a button to sew back onto some jeans, just got to find a new button and the needle and thread.
I wouldn't be able to remember something like that but probably over 10 years ago.

i should sew some buttons on one of my duvet covers, fiddly little devils though.
Aye, my ma was always sewing buttons on things. Made it look dead easy. I had a bash at sewing my mask back together recently. Not easy, even for me.
Not in a very long while Barry. It never occurred to me that problem with buttons and mangles. Wasn't there such a thing as rubber buttons at one time?

Think that could be the cause Barry lol, but I do try and get 2 x 30 minute walks a day, as I said "try"

A long time ago (when I had more time to spare) I bought one of those wooden darning mushrooms to see the holes up in socks. Of course that didn't last ;0)

wouldn;t you have to stitch on the velcro? the end of the duvet has all buttons.

I have my mother's darning mushrooms and eggs - they were her mother's and possibly her grandmother's. I think they are beautiful.
I used to wear hand knitted socks, I can still picture my mother knitting on three needles to turn the heels.

2 day's ago, when a mother of pearl button came off a shirt cuff.
I love sewing & frequently make minor alterations to things, I've even removed a worn collar on a favourite shirt & reversed it.
Some of those mushrooms can be stunning barry, what a nice thing to keep.
my mum was a seamstress and could do most things, but i didn't learn a great deal from her, i can sew on buttons, that easy, but the duvet one i have just not bothered.
