It gave a great insight into her and her cause.
I was shocked at the amount of ‘world leaders’ and media hacks who had harsh almost abusive words for a 15 year old girl, it was uncomfortable.
What is clear was that she actually quoted facts and irrefutable scientific evidence to which nobody had a response and she called people out for just wanting selfies with her for their own ends.
She’s obviously been caught up in her own success and now has to run with it, with some obvious reluctance.
So come on, who ACTUALLY watched it?

I didn't watch it because I have no interest in hearing previously issued theories re-hashed by a teenager under the spurious notion that because she is a teenager, she has something new and original to say.
If she did, it would have been front page news all over the world - no need to actually hear her speaking, the media would be all over anything actually new and interesting - but they are not.

World leaders are, by definition, adults and adults to do take kindly to be lectured at by attention-seeking teenagers who have nothing new to add to the debate except an undeserved sense of entitlement based on the fact that they are going to be here after the leaders have gone.

sevenOP I did not say they were any more or any less palatable. She is not saying anything that has not been said before. I am glad the issue of plastic is now being addressed, glad Global Warming, or at least the acceleration of what is a natural process as we come out of an Ice Age, is being addressed, I just don't appreciate an overly emotional Teenager with obvious mental health challenges being held up as the worlds new Saviour.
That is entirely the crux of my objection to this circus.
If pollution is addressed, it will be because public opinion, political expediency and financial gain have combined to make it desirable to the power brokers.
It will never be because of morality-based protests, no matter how novel their presentation - that is not how change really takes place.
Protesters can claim to influence public opinion, but the real change is based on the gain of money and power, it always has been, and Greta will never change that.

Seems to me that as with all 'causes' that provoke controversy, the object here is to get the topic talked about - 'trending' if you like - and it matters not whether you're pro or anti.
Publicity is the aim, in short, and Greta certainly attracts it. If she's just repeating stuff that's already been said by the likes of Sir David Attenborough then perhaps it bears repeating.

Vietnam War, French Revolution, John Maclean -Red Clydeside???
Gain of money and/or power largely drives change, but addressing human caused pollution may become a necessity.

I am absolutely behind anyone genuinely campaigning for necessary social change in a meaningful way.
But popping up as a novelty act on the world stage as though you gives you a hitherto unexplored solution to a complex problem is simply an annoyance, and solves nothing, except to give the notion of protest a bad name, and delude young people into believing that youth alone gives you insights and solutuons when, by definition, it can give you neither.

Thanks for displaying the level of ignorance I expected.
So you haven’t watched it so can’t really judge/comment nor counteract her arguments.
