I just have to have my occasional rant about this dreadful 'entertainment' that is still being shown after thirty (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) years.

Honestly, I know its cheap TV, but just how funny can a child hurting themselves - and the editing cutting the sound of crying, and the visuals before the face crumples into distress or contorts with agony - be, even for a dubbed audience that would have to be deranged to still find such nonsense funny after fifteen seconds, never mind an entire show's worth.

I find it repugnant that people are paid to send clips of their children hurting themselves for the 'entertainment' of viewing audiences, and it says something about those audiences that this pain-fest is still running and has been since 1990.

Honestly people, we are better than thinking that someone else's toddler being frightened or hurt, or both, is somehow funny - I think it should be taken off air today.

And ... breathe ...

OK - see you next year!!

I agree, Andy, but why do you watch it?
I (gulp) agree. :-)
Can't stand Harry Hill !!!
That should have been buried years ago. Dumb food.

Cliverjo - // I agree, Andy, but why do you watch it? //

I absolutely do not watch it!!

I was channel-surfing and it lit up my screen for the three seconds necessary to realise it is still being broadcast, and move on.
See some of the stuff that parents do to frighten their little toddlers on Youtube and think its funny, some of these kiddies will grow up being terrified of all sorts of harmless things and situations.
Look at clowns, I think that these days, more people are terrified by them than amused, including adults!

Well, good. why do you spell my name wrongly, but insist on everyone naming you exactly as your user name? This is not meant to be provocative. Just wondering.
I agree, it's awful, but I can't see any point in ranting about a show you don't watch. If I did that, I'd be in a state of eternal rant.
Jo, I expect it was a typo.
Ok, thanks, mozz.
Haven't watched it for ages. Different presenters tend to be better or worse at selling the show, but eventually all clips seemed to be folk falling over or getting hurt. It was good when it first came out, but now past it's sell by date. But in fairness, with the vast number of TV channels these days, and limited advertising revenue, what sort of quality can you expect for the budgets available ? This is one reason it's good to have a BBC which doesn't need to compete with the LCD progs/companies.
Most of it isn't children hurting themselves. Why do you think that? It's also adults and animals doing funny things.

I don't watch it anymore because of Harry Hill....but you're completely ignorant to it, Andy! Watch and come back and tell us what percentage was of children being hurt.
^yes, watches programme for "three seconds" and knows what the whole show contains...
I was going to send some of my hedgehog videos, but reading the terms you had to sign over copyright - somI didn't.

(I don't watch the programme - was just after the money!)
OK - see you next year!!

I also think Cliverjo was a tyjo
Well most of what's shown today must be repeats from years ago anyway but that aside most of it is not children hurting themselves at all it's usually them falling asleep in daft places or getting very messy. The majority of clips are of adults and the animal ones are usually extremely funny (to me).
And me....like little ones falling asleep in their food. I never bore of that.

Apologies, it was a typo - the 'i' is next to the 'o'.

Will try to be more careful xx.
I loathe it too and always have. Hated Candid Camera and all its derivatives

Umm, I'm not interested in the ratio of children being hurt measured against adults being stupid.

One child being hurt and filmed for entertainment is one child too many.
