Strictly Come Dancing are to feature their first ever same-sex pairing. Are you pleased about that, displeased, or don’t care?

I think it's daft PC nonsense, and after a period of curiosity viewing, I'd expect viewer figures to drop.

I don't see the problem. Besides, Nicola Adams is tougher than most of the blokes on the show. Hope she wins it, just to *** people off.
It's just a natural evolution of the programme, moving with the times.
If the general public are against it, they'll soon vote her off.
Basically Strictly is about ballroom which requires male and female coupling to look and work correctly. Sexual preferences shouldn't come into it. There is no need. It's a dance show.
It doesn’t bother me but I just wish that I knew more of the celebrities. So far, I’ve only heard of a few of them.
I agree with the best answer.
//There is no need. It's a dance show.//

Meh, it's a light entertainment telly show. No need for anyone to blow a fuse over it. If you don't want to watch it, there are 200 other channels to chose from.
Because I was tall at school I always had to take the male lead in the dancing lessons (2 weeks before Xmas and another couple of weeks at the end of year). It was hard to adjust and, fortunately perhaps, Mr. J2 hates dancing so I am spared the embarrassment of trying to lead when the chap is also trying to lead. It's nothing about sexuality, it just looks and feels wrong. One has a picture of Astaire and Rogers in mind - or at least I do.
We obviously agree Jourdain. Mr APC hates dancing too. (Unless he's had a few too many) I had to play the male parts in dramas as well at school!
Mozz. I can still have an opinion. I haven't said it offends me. I just find it a bit silly to have same-sex couples dancing ballroom when there is no need for it, except to try and be politically correct.
Who's blown a fuse on this thread?
Haven’t women always danced together? What difference? I don’t watch the show too much, but I’m not bothered about who dances with whom.
I never watch it so am not bothered who is on. It just smacks of desperation by the BBC for some publicity. I am sure they are losing viewers by the shedload to all the other streaming services that are available.
Is there a reason that gay Nicola Adams is to have a female partner?
Are the producers hoping that she’ll create a story by falling for her dance mate? The curse of Strictly
If two women are dancing together do they both wear dresses?
I’ve never seen Nicola Adams wear a dress. At awards ceremonies like SPOTY she always looks lovely in a trouser suit and silk blouse combo.
I actually will probably watch. I like the music of Dave Arch and the Orchestra and Bill Bailey should be great.
I don;t actually watch the programme, so I have no real axe to grind either way.

There are two schools of thought as i see it - one is -

this is diversity in action, a reflection of the fact that a significant part of the viewing audience are homosexual, and therefore will appreciate some genuine representation

and the other is -

hey I'm gay, look at me being all 'out there' and dancing with a same-sex partner with the sole purpose of underlining my sexuality for no useful reason whatsoever.

You pays your money ...
Didn’t Joyce Grenfell sing a song about women dancing together?
“Belly to belly, bust to bust.”
