Strictly Come Dancing are to feature their first ever same-sex pairing. Are you pleased about that, displeased, or don’t care?

I think it's daft PC nonsense, and after a period of curiosity viewing, I'd expect viewer figures to drop.

On a school skiing holiday in Austria aged thirteen our party of schoolgirls was chucked out of a dance because we were all on the floor dancing together to 'Simon Says'. That was back in 1968. We were told we could not stay as it was incorrect for girls to be dancing with each other even though there was no actual contact. I have never watched Strictly so it won't affect me in the slightest but I do wonder how they will score it, as I would have thought there was a certain code for awarding points - so would one be scored as the 'lead' and one as the 'partner' or however they would be described?
//We were told we could not stay as it was incorrect for girls to be dancing with each other //

You often see old (sorry) films of women in the 1950s and 60s dancing together if there were no males available.
lankeela its not judged on "lead' and "not lead" but on standards for the dance movements shown, complexity, correctness of movement and body line and so on. yes a poor leader or follower will lower the score but its the partnership that is judged.
Cloverjo, out in the Wild West the men had to dance with wolves.
//Is there a reason that gay Nicola Adams is to have a female partner?//

Judging from the article, she requested one.
No doubt 'Angry' from Accrington and 'Disgusted' from Derby will get their tutus in a twist, but so what. Those who enjoy the programme for what it is will still enjoy it. Easy for me to say, perhaps, as I never watch the prog, so it is just an opinion.
As for taking the lead, given Nicola's former sporting career, I'd guess she'd be plenty powerful enough to take the lead and successfully attempt all the appropriate lifts.
Don't care.It's all cheap publicity.
This isn't a club where nobody cares who dances with whom.
Its supposed to be entertainment with a tradition of male dancing with female.
Are gays so desperate to pander to diversity culture that they sabotage a tradition?
I always liked strictly, but this has turned me off.
I hope the LGBT community agree with me.
If it aint broke don't fix it.
Who decided it was tradition? This isn't standard ballroom dancing.
Not tradition?
OK.
Then its a circus.
i always thought i was an open minded person, but for some reason i don't care for it...
Good luck to them of they enjoy it, but they have just injected boredom into it.
how will the voting scores be perceived - if you don’t vote for the same sex couple, you’re a homophobic bigot?
Not bothered, judge her on ability not who she is partnered with. Plenty of ballroom competitors dancing in competitions in same sex pairings due to a shortage of male partners so not exactly unheard of.
Just to be clear, do the same sex couples both have to be gay or is it a case of for example a gay woman dancing with a heterosexual woman? If so doesn't it detract from any chemistry between them?
You can get chemistry between people of the same sex- Ant & Dec, Morecambe and Wise, Laurel and Hardy.
I think it won't take long for us to see Nicola and partner as just another couple. She is to take the lead and will suit the role, I feel.
I suppose anything that creates interest in the programme will be tried.
When I see the wee boxer woman I'm not immediately put in mind of a graceful swan, maybe she'll crash and burn.

Does the one with the shiny hair still work with the one made of wood?
//Its supposed to be entertainment with a tradition of male dancing with female.//

No, it's supposed to be entertainment. The "tradition" is what you've added to it, not what the programme has.

//how will the voting scores be perceived - if you don’t vote for the same sex couple, you’re a homophobic bigot?//

Just like it was with "H" on Dancing On Ice? Oh, wait. That never happened, he was just voted off like any other couple. If someone votes them off BECAUSE they're a same-sex couple then yes, they're a homophobic bigot. If they're voted off because they're the worst dancer, or you're supporting your favourite other couple, as you were, nothing to see here.
