Wow, it's changed my opinion. I now think he did have something to do with it. The police admit to messing up at the time and losing vital evidence. Also, could they not get DNA from Stuart Lubock, i.e. semen samples as he apparently was raped ?? DNA wasn't mentioned at all, which I find odd. What do others think ?

Not run off and leave a dead guest lying in your swimming pool might be one?

As far as I know its not admissible court. What's the point ?? to find out if their telling lies, if so why are they telling lies, that's the point.

I still don't understand why they couldn't get DNA.
hereIam - // I still don't understand why they couldn't get DNA. //

As I understand it, the police believe that Mr Lubbock was violated by an object, which may be the pool thermometer which disappeared during the night of the event.

If they could find that, and link DNA from it to DNA from Mr Lubbock, they would have the murderer, but since the item is unlikely ever to be found, they are probably going to have to pursue either a confession, or the evidence from someone who witnessed what happened, and neither have been forthcoming to date.
Question Author
I knew about the object that disappeared, but I also thought he was raped by men as well. I can't check back as I have deleted the recording, but it mustn't have been very clear. I agree that object is never likely to be found. The police really messed up.

I think that is unlikely, there would have been a direct DNA link between any man at the party, who will have been DNA sampled, and any DND deposited on, or indeed in, Mr Lubbock.

The absence of a charge on that basis indicates that no such DNA was found - leaving the assault with a foreign object which has since been removed from the scene.

My interpretation of the documentary is that the object may have been removed by Mr Barrymore's PA, or one other individual, and that one or more of them knows more information than he has offered to the police thus far.

This programme is repeated on Ch4 on Thursday.
I'm glad you've posted this thread HIA as I kept meaning to do it myself. What a programme. SL was raped with either the shed door handle or pool thermometer, both which were removed from the scene by MB's PA. So no semen involved. His claim that it happened at the hospital cannot be true because as was explained by a pathologist, bruising only occurs when you are alive not when you're dead. Another thing, this new guy has narrowed it down to 3 people, and it took two to do what happened. The 3 people are two ex boyfriends who he was still big mates with who were there that night. I can't be sure but I think MB's PA was named as the third person, who's the one who clears the incriminating evidence away.
The police have a lot to answer for here, not examining the body properly and believing what they were told, that he had drowned. He was dead before he went into the water I think they found??
ladybirder - // He was dead before he went into the water I think they found?? //

Yes, the pathologist confirmed that Mr Lubbock did not die from drowning - there are standard tests that reveal death from drowning, the evidence was not present in Mr Lubbock's system.
After the programme was shown. New evidence has come forward. But not been released yet. Await with interest the findings.
Question Author
Dear God, what a horrible way for him to die. Yes, I feel the PA has a lot to do with it and I bet Barrymore knows that as well !

So do I postman.

Thanks retro.

I wonder why the police didn't follow all the proper procedures at the time - not because it was a famous man I hope ??
because they thought he'd been drowned. I don't know that police are obliged to suppose that any body they are dealing with has been murdered, unless some specific evidence suggests this.
So much for the "gay" (i.e. heterophobic) community, riding rough-shod over those who don't share their perverted tastes. Perhaps we should bring back homophobia, instead of allowing people in high places to get away with this sort of vile behaviour, violating an apparent heterosexual against his wishes.

And how can the wicked Barrymore claim it has nothing to do with him - doesn't a party host have at the very least a duty of care to people on his premises.
/// not because it was a famous man I hope ?? ///

And one with plenty of money ?

Persih the thought.

Canary, I firmly believe he knows a lot more than he is letting on.

jno, the police admitted they messed up.
I'm not sure whether he was naked or not when he was found but you would have thought with the terrible injuries there would have been some blood around even if he was partially dressed.
Regarding his injuries, I'm copying this from The Independent:
//“I was shown a photograph at the police headquarters and it shows on the wall of the Jacuzzi a pool thermometer that would have four cutting edges,” Heath says. “An object like this or even this object could have produced the injuries I identified on Stuart’s anus if this had been passed into the anal canal a number of times.”\\. OMG!
He was found to have cocaine and heroine in his body plus had drank 9 pints of beer. Hopefully that dulled the pain somewhat.

Oh hell let's hope so lb ...
Canary - // So much for the "gay" (i.e. heterophobic) community, riding rough-shod over those who don't share their perverted tastes. //

If you imagine that being gay makes you 'heterophobic', I suggest that you don;t actually know many, if indeed any, gay people.

// Perhaps we should bring back homophobia, instead of allowing people in high places to get away with this sort of vile behaviour, violating an apparent heterosexual against his wishes. //

I can't imagine why you feel that extending your own personal fear of behaviour that is different to yours by encouraging hatred and animosity is going to do anyone anywhere any good whatsoever.

// And how can the wicked Barrymore claim it has nothing to do with him - doesn't a party host have at the very least a duty of care to people on his premises. //

Mr Barrymore has yet to be proven guilty of any 'wickedness' of any sort.

What specific 'duty of care' do you think a host needs to undertake for a party in his or her home?
