Has anyone been watching season 3 of The Crown on Netflix? What did you think?

I'm aware this is an unpopular opinion but Olivia Coleman as queen just did not do it for me at all and I was slightly disappointed by the whole season.

I've not seen any of the series but I have seen the publicity shots and whereas the first two who played HM seemed to capture her very well Olivia Coleman doesn't, she looks to have a permanent bad smell under her nose. As I have a free month of Netflix I might binge it.

I would zebo it's very very good.
I agree. Doesn’t have quite the class and finesse of the first two series. Colman is not a patch on Foy as QE2, but far worse is Helena Bonham Carter who’s supposed to be Princess Margaret but just looks like Bonham Carter always does - not an iota of effort made to resemble Margaret. I hope they up their game for Series 4 as I can’t wait to see how they do Lady Di
Did you spot me?

Actually as I’m on my free months trial I shall watch it to see if I have made it to the cutting room floor lol
Oh pooh. I’ve got a free months trial of Amazon Prime not Netflix.....

I just can't wait for the Diana series...……….

my wife was of a mind with you - more low spots than high.
I've only watched the first two episodes but so far I agree with you GLT. I thought that Olivia Colman "imitated" the Queen rather than making her believable. And Helena BC overplayed Princess M like crazy but looked as if she was enjoying herself anyway !
It seemed a bit soap opera to me but as I say I've only seen 2 episodes. I hope it eventually lives up to the standard of the first 2 series.
My friend is in this
Playing who Bobbi ?
i sort of agree with you - i wonder if it's something to do with the stories though rather than the actors? Perhpas 60s/70s was just less interesting than 50s/60s? Also it was interesting seeing the queen "come in" to herself, and negotiate the trickiness of becoming queen, and in this series she's more assured
I’ve never watched it so don’t know what her character name is

I am watching this too. I think it's good and at the moment feeling sorry for Philip.
I've really enjoyed all 3 series so far, though i am on record in an earlier thread as saying i didn't much care for HB-C's portrayal of Margaret. I do like the way in which each episode deals with a much remembered historical event.
Is your friend's name Nia, Bobbisox? She bears a resemblance to the actress who played the character Sylvia Millward, wife of Charles' Welsh tutor Edward Millward.
Hang on, I’ll ask her Ken
She’s not online just now but I’ve messaged her
No, she’s got a small part as Ann Parker -Bowles she was also in Corrie as the lady friend of Nigel Havers
