CH4. Apparently the PO investigation into who was the inside informer, points to a top member of the PO. Details won’t be made public till 2050/52

Not long to wait then
Don't know why they would think anyone is still alive or interested by then.
Hundreds of more serious crimes have been committed since then. Higher sums stolen and more deaths than the one unfortunate rail employee who subsequently died.

I think that's kind of the idea, retro, innit?

The person who they think was the insider, had such a high position in the PO. it would have if he/she had been named would have undermined the confidence in the PO. That’s how I read it.
Given that the 'Post Office' is a totally different animal now ; I don't see what harm any revelation would have today

Nowadays the post office move around high value items in armoured vans
it would have if he/she had been named would have undermined the confidence in the PO.

Lol bob
I lost confidence in the Post Office some time ago. This year my wife was supposed to get cards relating to different matters in the same few days (one was a thank you card). The senders confirmed they were sent but never arrived. Cards? enclosures may be. You get my drift. about two days I was that close to ringing the Post Office investigation Team as I had not received seven Premium Bond winning cheques from 1st August. I first rang National Savings and they informed me the winning prizes were sent in batches over the month of August. Our cheques came two days later. when my wife previously rang the PO Investigation branch she was told they were not interested as the two cards were not registered.
Who registers a simple thank you card? Any missing cards in envelopes, especially arriving closely together are an easy target for a bent postman if they suspect there may be cash enclosures inside a birthday card etc I think that complaint should be a subject of interest to the Investigation Branch. A example of my loss of confidence. I have others.
