AOG - // The media if it uses fictional dramas to get a certain political message across, is just as bad as direct propaganda. //

I think you are getting confused.

The media don't make television dramas, television companies do, the media reports the news. Hope that helps.

And there are many on here including yourself, who get rather antagonized, if certain races or religious groups are shown in a bad light.

So before you accuse others of being mentally unstable may I suggest that you look closer to home? //

I do, but that's because they are shown in a bad light by the media (not by television companies who make dramas, not news reports) - and I am not influenced one way or the other by drama which is intended for entertainment, and viewed by the majority as such.

I am not 'accusing' anyone of being mentally unstable - unlike yourself in your response to me.

All in all, your response is neither factually accurate, or very pleasant, hope you can do better next time.
AH
no one would know you had recorded it, indeed you can't blame anyone for giving out the ending. My thread on
this has most people giving out the ending.
// i read that baldric and still dont understand what it means!//

trope = metaphor

here - cliche or stereotype. trope is larger than metaphor and includes the others - simile, image, reference

I found a lot of it incredible
so bomb maker as suicide bomber was just another ( far too valuable - bomb makers require real skill - suicide bombers just have to stand by people and press a button)
Peter - // … I found a lot of it incredible … //

You're supposed to - it's a drama, it's designed to entertain you, it's not a documentary.

Modern media comes in many different formats, including print media (books, magazines, newspapers), television, movies, video games, music, cell phones, various kinds of software, and the Internet. Each type of media involves both content, and also a device or object through which that content is delivered.

Hope that helps?
AOG - I am sure you know as well as I do, that the generic term 'media' is used to describe news outlets - such as newspapers, television and radio news etc.

Bodyguard was a drama, designed to entertain viewers, it is not a closet means of stirring up divisions and hatred in society.

Having now watched the drama to its conclusion, I was no more inclined to see a message of religious bigotry concealed in this entertainment, than I was to ponder if Sajid Javid may be enjoying a spot of off-duty matress bouncing with his protection officer!!

^^^ A-H..."thanks to your spoiler, I can delete the remaining four".

You didn't, then?
seems not...^^
emmie - No, and it didn't overly spoil my enjoyment I am happy to say.
i thought it excellent and the ending gives rise to more of the same in the near future.
I was sad when the Home Secretary was killed off - I think Keeley Hawes has one of the most attractive voices on TV, I could listen to her read the phone book.

It can do but it is not a specific description.
I like many others thought she had survived the bomb and that she was being kept under wraps for her own safety, seems not, which was a shame.

If it was a specific description, it wouldn't be generic!!!

Touché

But it still doesn't make your original statement correct.

I believe my statement is accurate within the normal understanding of the word 'media' - even the title of this section makes the distinction.

However, nothing is to be gained by you and I arguing semantics, so I suggest we draw a line on this aspect of the discussion, and move on.
Aside from all the nonsense about tropes and islamophobia, Andy makes an interesting point about believability and the extent to which it might affect our enjoyment of what is indeed escapist entertainment. For a long time I thought this tale was going down the road of ‘evil men in grey suits who rule our lives’ which I personally find boring and actually easy for the programme makers to use as it allows them to leave loose ends and a feeling that it’s all a mystery to you and me. Luckily this series did not do that: instead we had at least three tolerably believable and unconnected scenarios criss-crossing and fooling us until we got a proper denouement where everything was explained. You don’t always get that. I did find the revelation about Nadia Ali the least convincing bit of it, but more believable than the idea that the security services are blowing people up.
And the Sunday evening drama ending was nice :-)
