We’re never going to win it, Maggie. So, no worries.
>>> Do you not feel that Eurovision is past its sell by date?

Possibly but it's still the most important night of the year on TV for me.

I've not turned my telly on for several weeks but I find it hard to think of anything that could possibly have dragged me away from the box tonight.

Not even going to pour a beer, Chris ;-)
Haven't seen the entire programme, is the Chicken song still in the lead?
(heaven helps us !!)
Isn't that the Israel entry?
>>> Not even going to pour a beer, Chris

I've got a good stock of Peroni alongside me, Tony ;-)
One of the biggest audience ratings on British TV.
We could certainly afford to stage it.
We consistently refuse musically to enter into the spirit of it tho by choosing performers and songs which are just not Eurovision friendly
Good man, Chris.

It's in 3rd place after all of the juries have voted, Alba. (212 votes).

Austria's in the lead (271), with Sweden on 253
cheers Chris x (in both senses of the word - hic) :-D

(have just finished another cup of blooming tea)

I think I caught a bit of Austria's attempt, definitely saw the Italian one - lawdy, the curly haired one loves himself and towards the end of the song, the other one was struggling with the notes imo.
Aaagh!

The ruddy chicken (Israel) has won!
Oh bums... :-(...... Loved Italy and Estonia......It really is worth looking at Estonia's performance....just look and see why.... :-)

Ha ha. Now. Does this mean that the voting is not, political anymore?
oh boy.
as if tensions in the middle east aren't high enough......
Question Author
Ha ha, alba. This is the first time I’ve heard the Israeli song.
Question Author
It’s awful.
Out of curiosity I watched Israel with subtitles on..... and I have no idea.... :-(
>>> Does this mean that the voting is not, political anymore?

I never really subscribed to that view, which was heavily promoted by Terry Wogan.

It's not particularly surprising that countries with broadly similar musical cultures (e.g. the Czech Republic and Slovakia or Cyprus and Greece) should share similar tastes in music, resulting in them voting heavily for each other.

However Wogan seemed to ignore the fact that the country of his birth, Ireland, has won the competition more often than any other nation. So which countries, apart possibly from the UK, were voting for Ireland for 'political' reasons?
Dear O lord, are you saying that this won ( I haven't watched it ).

It did.
IMO worst song won!
