Yes they got married in their local register office. Same as someone marrying to stay here, like Maria did.
They can always annul if marriage con consummated.

I thought it was a scam so they could enter a competition but surely the registry office thing was real so would count as a real wedding? Sure that Norris will realise his true feelings for her and they will live happily ever after.

I don't think Mary originally intended for the wedding to be real - then her son said he was coming! I do think Norris is very fond of her but I don't think he loves her.

Mary's mother died before Mary came to Coronation St, didn't she?

The marriage is a sham as they only did it for the competition but it is legal - they need the marriage certificate for the show.
