She felt she had bullied a woman who was having trouble breastfeeding, and wanted to go for a while to a severe order of Sisters to 'do penance'.
A mother took her advice that formula is a con and breast best to heart, and the babe suffered. She felt she was to blame and needed to get away to realign herself.
She kept telling a mum that she shouldn't give the baby formula and should carry on trying to breast feed. Baby got very ill and mum was bleeding from trying. One of the other Nun nurses sorted it and had a quiet word with her and she felt so bad that she had nagged the mum and not listened.
Question Author
ok - thanks for that. Thought it was a fine bit of acting by her Pam and Redgrave - at the end.
She delivered a baby to the young woman she delivered and stressed that she MUST breast feed. Anyway, the young woman couldn't and the baby nearly died and she felt guilty for imposing her beliefs on the young woman and needed to get closer to god and repent. She's going to a closed order for 6 months
I love this programme has me in tears nearly every week

And Pam herself has neither chick nor chile.
Enjoy a good cry Mazie!
Jennyjoan - I think you must mean Judy Parfitt as Sister Monica Joan, who's marvellous in the part - Vanessa Redgrave does the voiceover as the original author at the beginning and end of each episode.
Question Author
right mick - I haven't been watching it for that long so don't know the characters but glad that big lump Miranda is out of it cos I deffo wouldnt watch it.
Best thing on the TV at the moment -acting superb, story lines believable a great production.
jj - Miranda Hart was praised form that role. Just cos she's a 'big lump' doesn't mean she can't act.
Question Author
sorry viv - can't stand her - the most unfunniest person along with Keith Lemon on the planet.
She's not trying to be funny in Call the Midwife, she plays a charming, caring young woman in it. A delight and I miss her
I agree with hc.... I don't think Miranda Hart is the least bit funny as a so called comedienne but she was really good in her role in Call the Midwife. I was surprised how I warmed to her in the part.
I thought the show would not be as good without Miranda's character but I think the cast has pulled it off -it would be nice to see her again in it, maybe as a Guest appearance.
Couldn't have put it any better hc.
