How annoying is it that for about a week now the bbc news has been limited to only 15 mins just as there is a lot to report on concerning the floods etc. If there was an even worse major disaster or terrorist attack (heaven forbid) would films still take preference over the news? I see these short news programmes continue over the new year too!! Anyone else a teeny bit irritated by this?

I am watching full news on the BBC News channel.
Have you not got Sky News??

All at different times too - to fit in with films - no doubt!

Do you have Freeview

130 BBC 24hr News
132 SKY 24hr News
But you're on the Internet. Just go to BBC news app / website.
Er, no!

I hardly watch any telly. I've probably only seen the TV news two or three times this year. However I check the news on the BBC website (and on my local newspaper's site too) several times per day and get detailed reports on both Radio 4 and BBC World Service, so I don't miss TV news reporting.

I dont think bbc news channel or sky gives the local news does it?
Ahhh!
Once again.....you're. On. The. Internet.
Punch into Google your ocal news programme, mine for example

Or the BBC alternative or tune into a local radio station.

Just saying .... thats all. I think its odd.
It could be worse. You could be under seven feet of water with no electricity and unable to see the 15 minute bulletins.
If you need a constant reminder of the hell those poor folk are going through why not tape the front pages of the papers across your windows to keep your focus.

Bloody BBC and ITV, coming into our homes and not making us completely miserable 24/7. There ought to be a law............
A lot of the 'normal' coverage is probably devoted to political shenanigans anyway.

So, with nothing going on in Westminster ( http://www.parliament.uk/about/faqs/house-of-commons-faqs/business-faq-page/recess-dates/ ) there's probably just as much coverage of other events (such as the floods) as there would be in 'full' news programmes at times when our MPs are all squabbling with each other.

Douglas- have you ever thought we watch the floods with true feelings of sympathy for those affected. Its dreadful. No need to take that stance with me - goodbye!
Au contraire doll, I think there's every need. Cheerio.
Here you go Anne. Link to Look North:

Nobody has mentioned AlJazeera (Freeview 133) for world news coverage - please don't go off on one and knock it if you haven't watched it.
Why should anyone knock Al Jazeera, CD? It's recognised throughout the world as one of the 'big three' news broadcasters, alongside the BBC and CNN.

As I said above, I don't watch much telly but Al Jazeera certainly features in my viewing. (So does RT. It might not have the same reputation for unbiased reporting that the big three do but it's still worth watching for an alternative viewpoint).
Al Jazeera is excellent as is France 24 (possibly the best) RT is depressing and I've not looked at it for 18 months. More like a student rag week effort
I agree with you Ann. Things that the TV news people consider to be massively important at other times of the year, so much so that they fill whole news bulletins with them for weeks on end, seem to pale into insignificance at Christmas.
