I have always admired JV's ability to choose a song that makes a following an unspoken comment / sign-off following a debate - using Gary Jules' Mad World was a good example, so I am disappointed to find an inappropriate choice here.

Hopefully he will apologise if people complain directly.
I doubt you can blame Jeremy personally...he doesn't choose the playlist.
Thank goodness that all of the problems in the world have been solved and we can concentrate on imagined offence.
This should be good for a hundred or so replies.

The world has always been full of major disasters, and major trivia - why should today be any different?

Taking part in a simple discussion about something like the appropriate choice of a record on a radio show does not infer indifference to the problems of the world.
When Fred Astaire died, Radio Forth ,on their upcoming news bulletin , wanted to pay a Fred Astaire song as a tribute and sent a junior to the storage room to "quick, grab a FA record, any one. quick...". The news was delivered and then The reader said "as a tribute , we are now going to play a FA song" The song was... heaven I'm in heaven.... oops !
My friend had "Who Wants to Live Forever?" by Queen played at his funeral.

He's currently interviewing a woman who suffered sexual abuse as a child. Am waiting in anticipation for what he will choose.....
Radios presenters do not choose the playlist, the producer of the programme does.
The answer is

I drove all night, to get to you, I drove all night, crept in your room
Can you believe it, Bathsheba?

I know that, because Tony Blackburn said so on the radio.

At the time it was the Number One single, the wonderful Tone opined via the medium of wunerful Radio One, that Crazy Horses should be the Number One single for the rest of time!

A friend of mine who was doing some wiring in a telephone exchange said nothing in response to Tone's pearl of wisdom, and although his facial expression did not change, neither did he scream and shout, he did climb down off his ladder, carrying his transistor radio, whereupon he walked into the Gents toilet and attempted to flush it down the toilet!!

(P.S. Crazy Horses is not the greatest pop song ever - Mr Blobby is! Tsk!!

Haven't a clue what he played at the end, but there wasn't any inaproprtiate lyrics in it.
Got to go out now.

Radio 2 were forced to apologise a few months ago when he played Delilah after a story about something like violence against wives
That should have been foreseen, but I'm not sure the same applies to Drove All Night here. So many songs contain something that could be seen to be relevant to a story/feature. Just glad it wasn't something by one of those artists who are now locked away
Jeremy Vine must have some input to what's played, or else he and the producer have identical tastes in music. J Vine hasn't a sensitive bone in his body anyway,it's time he and Steve Wright were taken off air.
assuming its dessert not desert
wrong thread
