Does anybody know why Gregory Porter always wears that tight black balaclava, with a big cap pulled down to his eyes? He's got a great voice, but he looks like a total prat!

/// He is rarely seen without his flat cap, which has been modified with what looks like a balaclava, but without the sinister face covering. He has referred to it as both a security blanket and his “jazz hat”. In a 2012 interview with Jazzweekley.com he explained why he started wearing it: "I’ve had some surgery on my skin, so this has been my look for a little while and will continue to be for awhile longer.

“People recognise me by it now. It is what it is.”//

Could he not have removed the balaclava and hat as a mark of respect for the Festival of Remembrance? And as for asking that self-satisfied old croaker Rod Stewart to sing at it - is that the best we have to offer our service men and women?
Being so cheerful keeps you going?
Who?
I think him wearing that monstrous thing on his head was a total lack of respect of the occasion. Should not have been allowed to perform.
Loved seeing Rod Stewart. He did well.
You really think he's disrespectful because of that?

If that is so, why is he often invited to sing beautifully at meaningful occasions when they know that is who he is?

I confess to being bemused by this point of view.

The man is a prat - is he ? What do you know about him that I don't?
Mamma we normally do not disagree.
He looked a prat. He must have known is appearance was unsuitable for the occasion. Therefore I say he was a prat. But we could agree to differ.
Or we could just say your out of order and should read the comments above?
On this occasion Caran we most definitely do disagree.
To be honest, I was listening to his singing - rather than looking at his headgear.

His rendition of Amazing Grace was excellent.
I have no problem with his singing. He has a superb voice. Just his appearance.
It say's that he wears the hat to preserve privacy in this article.
