Today's question was who was the longest serving head of the FBI. The contestant said Edgar J hoover. Was this fair to be called a wrong answer. If she had said Hoover Edgar J would this be called wrong also The correct answer given was Edgar J Hoover

Do you mean the correct answer was J Edgar Hoover
I guess if his first name was John, it would be incorrect. It sounds like one of those "gotcha" questions to me. I thought that the J was a middle initial too. After all who (besides him) opts to have a second forename and surname in full only ? Weird. Perhaps he clashed with another J.E.Hoover.
She said Edgar J, his name was J Edgar. QED
I'm sure Bradley would have accepted it.
