Yes it is a natural function, but there are also many other natural functions that we possess but still don't find the need to display them openly in public.

It is your legal right to breast feed in public without being harassed about it - it is not your legal right urinate in public.
Would there be a problem if Princess Kate or Angelina Jolie started to Breastfeed a baby ? I do NOT think so .
I think Angelina Jolie is a poor choice here.
She was not stopped from breast feeding but asked to cover herself. We dont know how much she exposed. Maybe she was nude?
This should not be about feminism, sexual politics, attitudes to nudity,or comparisons to others bits or what are deemed natural functions...blah,blah,blah. Its simply about feeding a baby...how,when,where. I'd like to think most people are mature enough to cope with a baby being fed discreetly....but that does not seem to be so.
Most people ARE mature enough, pastafreak, with a baby being fed discreetly, it's about NOT being discreet in public that is the issue here.
I'm not bothered about the breastfeeding in public, I just think children under 16 should be banned from dining at Claridges...
A lot has been said about showing good manners and not breastfeeding a child in public. How about showing good manners and ignoring a perfectly natural occurrence?
Has anyone looked at the photo in the link. It looks extremely discreet! How anyone could label it otherwise is beyond me. Its the huge napkin that looks indiscreet...as it draws attention.

Got to agree there ganesh...Asking the Brighouse and Rastrick Band to stand behind her and knock out The Floral Dance whilst she breastfed her baby was a bit OTT.
It'a a pity then that no one in this instance has been sharp enough to snap a photo to show this mother was behaving without discretion.
It's not natural to be indiscreet, anyway. It isn't how most people are used to behaving.
-Talbot- in Claridges?

Surely it was the lovely André Rieu and his Orchestra.
I have noticed that when I get an opportunity to snap breast feeding mothers, mamya, they never seem to smile for the camera.
She had to do something to draw attention to herself...so a marching band or two did the trick. ;-)
That's a shame,a scowl only causes wrinkles.
The photo was 'staged' after the event, and we can only assume that she WAS being indiscreet enough for them to want to do something about it.
Is being "indiscreet" illegal anyway?
At this point I'll bow out - am not prone to 'assuming'.
No, she wasn't doing anything illegal, and nor did Claridges.
