Just found this on You Tube this morning. Baron Sacha Cohen's new character Bruno is confusing Americans again. The more they booed, the harder he hit...didn't they realise that this was another satire ? Why are Americans so credulous ?

Bruno is not a new character - he was created years ago. How old is the video?

237j...the only info I can see from Youtube is June 2012.
Google says 2009
I can understand disapproval, it's what he was going for, but one would have thought they'd have cottoned on to it being a wind up long before they started walking out. He does push buttons hard doesn't he. I think probably too far for most. Perhaps the show host is a trusted presenter ?
I think he did Bruno after Borat and before that Mid East dictator character so it was quite a few years go.
Same mentality as people who think Keith Lemon is a real person, so it's not confined to the US.
Don't you remember this, mikey?

Exactly Zacs. And his Ali G character fooled a few people over here.
Why are Americans so credulous ?

Is it because they is black?
perhaps the audience is also part of the sketch - Monty Python did one of those

If you puncture people's deeply held religious and social beliefs, the initial reaction is unlikely to be that this is a spoof character, and none of what he says is true.

I have always found SBC's character situations uncomfortable - this was no exception, it doesn't make me laugh at all.

Good heavens no douglas ! ...just a little thick perhaps ( some of them at least)
New character? He is sooooooooooooooo last decade, girlfriend! LOL

Just found another one ! In this he takes the pee out the essential air-headed and pretentious fashion industry, and yet again, they just don't seem to realise that they are being set up.

The entertainment industry have never set up anyone in the UK. Jeremy Beadle will be turning in his grave!!!
"Hook. line and sinker" after all he is angling for a reaction.

It could occur here in Britain, without doubt, but not to the extent that it is successful in America. Americans seem ready to accept the most bizarre and unlikely events and circumstances so readily, in their millions !

But I have yet to understand why. Most of them are educated these days, so it just seems a puzzle.
I'm almost reluctant to say I laughed - but at the risk of offending the more politically correct around here, I did. "Swapped the baby for an Ipad"! How deliciously ridiculous!! :o)
Mikey...you might not like the people involved in this but it cracked me up....watch it.

mikey - "But I have yet to understand why. Most of them are educated these days, so it just seems a puzzle."

You are confusing accademic ability with intelligence, and the two are often mot remotely connected.

Look at George Bush - on paper Doublya is more educated than Al Gore, but look at the difference in approach to the world they live in.

It is a fine line - Bush was a disgraceful warmongering gung-ho loose cannon, and Gore swallows the entire 'global warming' nonsense whole, but on balance, a bit of harnless psoturing over a natural phenomenon gets my vote over a need to fight a 'war on terror' as Bush used to say.
