My husband could never understand why I used exaggerated facial expressions when signing.....though he would have had a slap if he told me I resembled a bulldog chewing a wasp. A signer with no facial expressions...or even very limited ones would be like you hearing a conversation under water.

Is your next 'funny' question going to be 'Why do blind people read books with strange bumpy letters?'
...actually sign language is for the benefit of deaf viewers....

Thanks for explanation gness.
I'd sign thank you, grumpy but it'd be useless...so thank you...x
Because lip-reading can be a big part of sign language, so they are emphasising the words.
Hi, Pixie...we didn't rely a great deal on lip reading....it was as much the expression.

e.g If I was signing to you.....I went to London for the day.....the expression on my face would tell you whether I had had a wonderful day or a really tiring and miserable day......xx
Hi gness, thank you xx
