Just watching the RBL Festival of rememberance. At the moment James Blunt is on making a row, so I just wondered what those bereaved families who were on before must have thought of this Marine Sergeant and his actions.

The little girl's surprise reunion with her Daddy was a really nice touch in the service, very moving.
I too blubbed when Megan's father came on. I to wondered why so few poppies,I thought there was supposed to be one for every fallen service person. Countess of Wessex was clearly moved.
Agree with others on here, James Blunt wasn't good at all, I had no idea he used to be a Captain in the Army, maybe he made a better soldier than singer!

Really love Alfie Boe, but what HAS he done to himself lately, his hair doesn't suit him at all like that and I prefer him singing classical to pop.
Yes, he was a serving soldier for some time.
Grumpy, your OP makes no sense, you refer to 'this Marine Sergeant' with no other info. I think we all know what you mean but introducing it under that thread title I consider to be underhand

(ex Royal Marine) Baldric.
Yes I spotted that Sophie had tears in her eyes, shows they are human too. Also surprised to see the Queen clapping, can't remember seeing that before, but maybe the cameras are never on her when she does.
//this Marine Sergeant and his actions//
Are you referring to James Blunt? - I didn't understand. Hugh clearly said on the programme he had been a Captain and had served for 6 years.

Ann, see link back at 22:59, well out of order IMHO.

The use of the story that is, not ABerrant's link^^^^
I understand now (doh!) I hadn't read the link, I see what grumpy meant now .......

Not underhand at all Baldric. Those families who have lost loved ones were shown and interviewed and the obvious pride with which Mrs Ashworth spoke of her son's posthumous V.C. was very moving.I was trying to draw a comparison between those brave actions and this act of what has now been proved to be murder. As for the wailing of James Blunt that was just the time when I was typing. Also would like to say that I was moved by the appearance of Megan's father and the choirboy singing of for the fallen.
Katie Melua was outstanding.
Not too keen on having singers there, but James Blunt was abysmal. I wish we'd seen The Queen's face when wee Megan's daddy came in, it would have brought tears to a glass eye ! wonderful.
Where were the rest of the Royal Family? Charles and Andrew are overseas but ether were William and Kate; the Kents and Gloucester and those two Royal princesses who don't seem to do an awful lot. What happened to Jonathan and Charlotte? Would have preferred them to James Blunt. And more importantly what happened to the poppies at the end? There were far fewer than usual.
