When Gail was in court speaking up for Scooter and the judge recognized her, I was just wondering - Is a judge allowed to do that as it had nothing to do with Scooters case.  The whole thing is ridiculous anyway.

Yes the "quality" of witness testimony can always be used. Up until very recently it was only the defendant whose past history was not to be disclosed. Now that even can.

That is why, for example, rape is so difficult to prove as all the past sexual history of the witness can be brought up.

P.S Not being picky but it was not a judge, it was a magistrate who has no formal legal training.
