Unfortunately there is nothing the government can do. Any country that is part of the EU can freely travel to the UK. This will include Romania and Bulgaria in January 2014. The UK is a very attractive destination for criminals as there is a generous benefits policy, weak 'justice' system with only a small chance of deportation. It does not help matters that the government also follow EU regulations to the letter.
@TTG Did you actually read the link? :)
I thought we had already started reintroducing wolves in packs to Scotland?
They've probably got a bit more to worry about than wolves stowing away in the backs of lorries in order to get a better life over here.

TTG,
What exactly are the EU Regulations on deporting a WOLF ??
Lol Cris, its the wooly mammoths that you have to worry about - the size of their droppings and what about the ozone layer from all their farts!!
Question Author
yes, those who read the link have probably guessed, it was done in jest.

was amused how the Daily Mail, gave the article the usual scaremongering approach towards a foreign influx, even though it was wolves.

I think what TTG is saying is that the Government just cannot keep
the Wolf from the door!
The wolf was a native to UK until fairly recent times , the main habitat was the Scottish highlands .
Note how the Daily Wail has photo shopped the teeth to make it look more fierce
Of course Eddie, what else do you expect from the Daily Wail!
@fgt No, they have never actually gotten around to it, although they have talked pretty seriously about the issue since 1990s. Several initiatives, highlighting tree damage by red deer and control of them by wolves, for instance.....Last time it was seriously discussed was 2007. People were broadly supportive, but those living in rural or isolated locations in Scotland were less keen....
There is a British Wolf conservation trust this is their web site
http://ukwct.org.uk/index.php?page=wolves
Not as bad as they are painted 'Red Riding hood and the 3 little piggies' have a lot to answer for.
Britain needs wolves to keep the deer ppulation under control. In the interest of PC a quota should be set for gay and lesbian wolves in order to safeguard their lupine rights rights.
LoL Jom - I am impressed by your progressive and forward thinking! :)

And mustn't forget to provide Social Kenneling
Considering the damage that red deers do to forests and the road traffic accidents that they cause you would have thought they would be keen on the idea.

I suppose the farmers are worried about sheep attacks etc, but I believe you can enclose them is large areas to keep them at bay.
Yes but where will it all end? I suppose they'll be sending for their families after they've been here a while. Have we got the infrastructure in place to look after elderly wolves and cubs? It will all end in tears I tell ya!
LG, you can see that I have learnt a lot from some of the contributions to AB. I've been working on improving my 'social intelligence' and was hoping to get an 'i-diploma' in 'vernacular empathyspeak' in the near future but my previous qualifications in practical scepticism seem to have put a hex on that. :-)
Do you think it might change things if they were albino wolves? :)
Well it may but the albino would have to prove that it would never become gay, never have more than 1.2 pups and never 'sign on'.
