Do you think Countdown has reached its sell-by date?? If they insist on having Jo Brand as a guest then I, for one, will stop watching. The woman is embarrassing.

I don't think they will notice to be honest.
I may be in the minority but I actually quite like Jo Brand. Whoever the guest is, they are only temporary, so wouldn't make me stop watching the programme. I prefer Dr Phil Hammond or Paul Zenon though!

I think you're right ellie. There used to be several good guests in dictionary corner, now they seem not to bother too much with who they have. I hope it doesn't stop as I enjoy watching, but I record it so I can whizz past the bits I don't want to see...including Jo Brand, Nick and some other people I'm not keen on.
Some of the guests are indeed appalling - but fortunately they only last a week.

Giles Badbreath is one particularly revolting guest IMO.
Rachel Riley. Message ends. :)
Headwreck - we must have a similar sense of humour! I'm sure I watched it last week but can't remember who was on. Oh it's just come to me -Janet Street-Porter. Whoever they get on won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Unfortunately, they are considering axing it as viewing figures have dropped dramatically. They should do some market research as to why. I love the main part but find some of the guests irritating. Also , have never warmed to Nick as presenter.
She's been a guest for years.

I've warmed to Rachel, prefer Nick to the comedians they've had since Richard's sad departure, but they keep messing about with the times. I've started watching another quizz programme now which conflicts. They've lost their core audience and may not get it back.
I read that Nick Hewer has a contract till the end of 2014 with Countdown, so don't think it's likely to get the chop. It's very popular with all ages, and is a bit of a cult among students.

Was in the papers last wk , headwreck. I do think they need a change of presenter.( Nick suits the Lord Sugar programme better.)

I have never really accepted Nick as a presenter on Countdown, I much prefer Jeff Stelling to him but sadly that wasn't to last. Would be awful if they axed the programme though after all these years.

It would, daisya. That's why they seriously need to revamp it. If you have to record it and fast forward at least 10mins of it then something's not right. (I loved Jeff Stelling too.)
Headwreck, Perfection on BBC1 at 3pm.
