no reason why this will be limited to America, though. As far as they're concerned, easily available firearms are America's gift to the world.
not stupid if he has worked out how you do it, i read about this earlier, and confess that it's quite horribly simple, yet so very deadly.
its old news fella. at least a week

I am just imagining what Muslim terrorists, amongst others, would do with a plastic gun that doesn't have any metal parts. Could you get on board a plane with it, or enter a school without setting off the metal detectors ?

Any way, it is estimated that there are at least 5 guns for every American alive today...not sure why we need any more.

A truly stupid and dangerous man.
A so called "zip" gun, made from household items and a broken car aerial was weapon of choice in some British inner cities in the late '60s, early '70s. Didn't need technology or a $8,000 printer in those days.
You still need to get hold of the ammo.
Things don't change much, sadly.
as i said not stupid, if he was he wouldn't have found a way to do it. you have to be 10 steps ahead of the bad guys, that's the problem, you find a way to detect a certain type of device and they come along with something better, simpler, that the good guys have to find a way to counteract, it's a deadly game. Like the poor soldiers blown up recently, in a supposedly safe vehicle. killed by a 700lb bomb which blew the vehicle up in the air and landed on it's roof, how can you actually counter that?

The reason that I accused this chap of being stupid wasn't anything to do with how the gun is produced, whether by a fancy-pants 3D printer or any other method. Its his stated desire to make the technology available to everywhere in the world on the grounds of liberty.

America has a terrible problem and legacy with their obsession with firearms, and this idiot is just going to make things worse.

Only in America ! Thank god that all political parties got together and banned the easy use and ownership of guns in Britain. When Dunblain happened our legislators got their heads together and acted. In America, after the latest atrocity at a junior school, millions of Americans marched on Washington to maintain their "right" to kill children with high-velocity weapons. I bet this idiot was amongst them.

One can not put a genii back into its bottle, one can not stop an idea "who's" time has come, from appearing. It is a concern though: one we'll have to find answers for. It effectively means that anyone can create a firearm without the knowledge of the authorities, license or no license. Just one more risk to join the others.
Didn't I read that the firing pin had to be made of metal? That would surely be detectable.
As I understand it, metal isn't necessary in the construction save to comply with US law. But that would be unenforceable. But I may have misunderstood.
