Blood Brothers. Laughter and tears and the music is fairly modern too. Can't remember any of the songs though...

Oh I love Oliver! too.

Consider yerself at 'ome , Consider yerself part o the family

We've taken to you so strong, it's clear we're goin' to get along.

The stage version of Sunset Boulevard is a cracker too.

Les Mis.  I just love it.  All the songs particularly On my Own and Can you hear the People Sing and ..... and ....
I think working in theatre has jaded me cos I hate all musicals now!  I'm almost thankful that we don't really have them on at the theatre where I work now.

Oh yes Les Mis.!

And Chorus Line.

What sort of plays are on in your theatre nicola
All sorts of stuff Peri, drama, opera, we have concerts (but mostly dodgy folk-type stuff) and comedy too.  And also local community-type productions.  We just don't do the big musicals like those named in this thread.

I love The Lion King

Circle of Life is brill

I absolutely love musicals; I seem to have been watching them for as long as I remember.

My favourite of all time is Guys and Dolls - I recently saw my 106th different production of it!

Having said that, my favourite song from a musical is Jerome Kern's "Long ago and far away"

Oh, and..... "I feel charming, it's alarming how charming I feeeeeeeeel, and so pretty...."

Anyone seen Anger Management?  Love it!

Huge musical fan meself also. Sound of Music is my favourite overall, but great songs:

Something Good - TSOM

On The Street Where You Live - My Fair Lady

Feed the Birds - Mary Poppins

On My Own - Les Mis

Out Here On My Own - Fame

Phantom of the Opera - Phantom of the Opera

I Know Him So Well - Chess

Gethsemene - Jesus Christ Superstar

Suddenly Seymour - Little Shop of Horrors

Tell Me It's Not True - Blood Brothers

There are many many more, but can't think of them at the mo. I personally think everyone can benefit from having Musicals in their life. Most of them are so life-affirming and good. Would have included Songs from Moulin Rouge, but they don't really count, same with 'Once More With Feeling', the Buffy musical episode, both of which were fantastic in themselves.

42nd Street and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

although I'm not keen on annie! that b**** can remain an orphan!

;)

Moulin Rouge definitely dk_psy, espeially (if we can include them) the Roxanne song at the end with Ewan MacGregor and the Argentinian fella.  Also love Chicago, the song with Richard Gere and Renee Zelwegger when she is the dummy and he a ventriloquist.
They Both Reached For the Gun? Yeah, wicked song, Cell Block Tango is good too. Love El Tango de Roxanne and the Nicole Kidman/Jim Broadbent The Show Must Go On is great too.

Mary Poppins, presently at The Prince Edward theatre, is supercalifragilisticexpialodocious!!

LES MISERABLES without a doubt!!

Seen it 30 odd times , still love every second.

Fav song????    "One Day More"  Nobody could fail to be moved by it.

'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' and 'The Phantom of the Paradise'
