Years ago I watched a film which was a true story based on a little girl who fell into a well. She was roughly 2 years old and was stuck about 20ft down in a well and it took ages to get her out as the firemen and co had to drill down along side the well and then drill across and set her free. This was a very emotional film and I was wondering if anyone knew the title?

Yes thats it. Thanks very much.

OK I know it's not the same child, but just reading this made shivers run down my spine.

A little Italian boy fell down a well when my son was a baby, and the world held its breath while similar rescue holes were drilled.

He didn't make it.

His mother said "The world will forget the name of Alfredo Rampi" and in sisterhood I vowed I never would.

Over twenty years later, I still remember.

this film gave me nightmares for months after I saw it. They had to dislocate her hip to pull her out and she was kept alive by the humidity caused by her wet nappy!
I remember seeing this... its a fabulous film. Based on a true story isn't it?
Sorry - I just re-read your post and you said its "based on a true story" - oooooooooooops!
Jessica McClure, the baby in the well, graduated from high school last year.  Whenever she's asked about her ordeal, she says she doesn't remember it - she was too young at the time.
oh this was a really good film the one bit that sticks out in my mind most of all is the bit when the wee girls mum is singing the winnie the pooh song down the well to her i thought that was very touching.

Yes that bi stuck in my mind to. This film made me cry when I watched it and I was only about 12. I was telling my boyfriend about it as I'd like him to see it. Glad to hear the gilr is ok now. Probably best that she doesn't remember any of it.
Solarjunkie you aren't the only one to remember Alfredo Rampi!  Poor little boy!  All he wanted was his curly spoon that he used to eat his yoghourt!  His mother was demented.........  My 3 boys were all under 4 at the time. Maybe that's why we both remember.
