sorry dicky.... are you posting a link from a site you have to log into? That could be why - all I get is "cannot display this page"

When I click on the link in my post that you see, it downloads in about 9 secs, scans and then opens. It is all to much for my feeble mind. Try the "experiment" post in Animals & Nature. I am using the same site and anyone should be able to access via the links as it is in the public domain.

i didn't need to log in, the file downloaded and played ok

Perhaps it's coz I'm on IE, it says IE can't display the webpage.
