Battlefield Earth

I started watching this film on ITV last night, but fell asleep half an hour before the end. However, the film was so unbelieveably terrible, I honestly couldn't care less whether the "man animals" managed to blow up the aliens' planet with their teleported bomb, whether the main guy got the girl, or whether John Travolta died at the end or not.

Has anyone else ever felt complete disinterest in a film's ending?!

Solaris - the new version with George Clooney. Not seen the original, but this 'thinkers film' was utter tripe.

I forced my self to watch this once just to see if a film could be as bad as the critics had claimed. The critics where right it was bad. Travolta must be totally embarrassed. IMDB gives it 2.4 out of 10 which in my opinion is very generous!

It's known in film industry circles as 'Battlefield A r s e'.

The only film I have ever fallen asleep through at the cinema was 'The Accidental Tourist' with William Hurt. Good cure for insomnia.

My girly and I watched Gigli a few weeks back just to see if it lived down to the hype. 2 hours of my life wasted that I'll never get back- even the notorious 'Turkey time- Gobble Gobble' bit didn't redeem it! Avoid Avoid Avoid!!!

And Soozmac - tried to warn you but you wouldn't listen!

Ha ha...this post has totally made me giggle.  I too tried watching it but found it to be very very bad..  My boyfriend and I watched "the sweetest thing" with Cameron Diaz a few weeks back when it was on the telly.....god, now that is a terrible film - but don't ask me why we watched it to the end!!! 

Robble - thanks for the warning about Gigli... was going to watch that for the same reasons as you...but will avoid avoid avoid now. lol.

Battlefield Earth was beyond horrendous,because as you say,there was nothing or no one to actually care about.The only time that this has happened in the cinema,was when a friend and I went to see Beetle Juice.After about 20mins,we both came to the conclusion that it wasn't funny or different,it was just contrived rubbish! We did stay to the end though,because we thought (a)it just might get better and (b)we had paid good money to see it.It didn't of course,and we then paid more good money at the nearest bar to cheer ourselves up!

depends what you look for in a film really - i really enjoyed lost in translation.

however, two of my worst movie experiences in recent years were vanilla sky and AI.

Went to see Damage with Jeremy Irons in it years ago. Was so disinterested the fact that Jermey Irons featured in it is all I can remember.

Liked Beetlejuice. Liked Four Weddings. Sort of liked Lost in Translation (except for the jokes about Japanese mispronouncing English ho ho). Didn't like the super-cool Sin City. Just goes to show.

I am sad to admit that I went to see Bounce. It had Ben Affleck in it, and to be honest do not remember a single thing about it.

" The Accidental Tourist" - How does William Hurt get away with it? I'm fairly sure he took sedatives ,such was his coma - inducing performance.

Hated " Reversal of Fortune" and only stayed with it hoping that Jeremy Irons was Guilty!
