I suppose we'd all be after one if we had pots of money, but is it really worth going to all that expense? (I've been watching "Escape to the Country" on the BEEB")

Depends how much money you have. £750k is not a lot to some people.
What you pay for a house is a function of the size of your family, your life style, the part of the country you live in and how much you can afford.

But to answer your question, yes.
It's all relative really, £750,000 in some parts of London won't get you a shed let alone a house, that kind of money round here would probably get you a nice 5 bed detached with a big garden, not a mansion.
Yes I would if I liked the house and I knew that it was within my budget. House prices in my part of the country are expensive anyway, so that is not that high a figure for around here.
In some areas that is quite an average price to pay for a family home !

Yeh... I see what U mean! £750k is small change to a billionaire.
If I had the money, I certainly would - some of the houses on that programme are simply stunning.
Its a ridiculous programme that - people with 'only 500k' who can't find anything to buy that suits them (poor darlings) it seems a total waste of time even for a daytime programme.
Personally, I wouldn't even if I had millions. I only need a certain amount of space in a house and would hate a large showy house that I had to keep looking wonderful. Having said that, in London £750,000 might just buy you a cupboard.!
'Property Porn' TV commands good audiences.

The producers also know the pull of showing atttractive houses in nice areas and £750,000 isn't particularly aspirational for people in areas where run of the mill properties are £500K plus.

Homes under the Hammer already includes a good proportion of cheap properties across the country.
i only want a small house but i want a pool, so yes if i had the money
I would like to have that money to spend on a house! I don't watch a huge amount of these programmes but never actually seen anyone make a purchase!

Well, it's over. The property boom only lasted 45 minutes, there again, some of the furnishings were nice! Sometimes though, I wish the TV channels would ease off with property programs!
Don't watch 'em then !!
I would love to be in a position to pay that much for a house. If I won Euromillions rollover I would consider it. The property would need to be worth it though.
Property and antiques seem to feature for 90% of daytime viewing!!!
Would depend on the house (If I actually had that kind of money in the 1st place anyway-which I don't) but, from experience of watching these type of programmes it seems to me that the 'buyers' never actually buy any of the properties so you question why they are on there at all other than to appear on TV.
Where I live, that would get you a four bed, a two bed, a one bed and a business all surrounding a nice courtyard with a business premises and a large driveway.......... So if anybody is interested I am selling.
I've have bought several properties well in excess of that ( one I still own) and the one I'm currently in I paid around that figure. When my wife sold her flat she got £650,000. As others have said dependant on area you don't get much for that. Geographical area to be honest doesn't matter to me (I'd be as happy in Wales or Northunmberland as I would in the Home Counties) as long as it's either really rural or else right in the middle of a big city ( can't stand the 'Burbs).
I love property programmes, especially when it's abroad. It's my escapism TV that others may find in soaps for example. And if I was spending that much money then I'd expect to take my time looking for the right place.
