Virgin TV/Phone package

I contacted Virgin earlier this month with a view to finding a way to reduce my monthly costings. I found that, by going 'down' from one package to another, I could reduce my monthly payments by £20. We wouldn't have so many channels to watch but that doesn't worry my wife and me and I'd sooner have the extra money from my pension, such as it is, to help pay for all the other things going up in price.
Only this morning I received an e-mail from Virgin informing me my 'bundle' goes up on the 1st April by £3.50 per month.
I haven't contscted them as yet but when I do, surely my legitimate claim would be that I have entered into another contract which lasts 12 months from this month and the prices on that contract should be honoured by them?

Virgin has a contract that includes a 'price may be varied with due notice' get out...
I used to be with Virgin - 'nuff said.
I have Virgin and have often felt like changing them, but how do you do this? I have everything with them, tv, telephone and broadband computer. Can't remember exactly how much but I think it is about £60 plus extra bits. It comes through cable and I do not understand how this works. For instance are there other firms who do the whole lot or would I have to have separate firms for each facility? Is the only other way to get tv to have a Sky receiver stuck on the side of my house? I have stayed with Virgin because it seems to be so complicated to leave but would certainly like to pay a smaller amount.
Where I live the choice is Virgin or BT as we are not allowed to have sky dishes

My package is about £85 a month but that does include all the sport...
