Must admit I did have a few tears in my eyes for fat pat
Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ooooooone
My mum died of pancreatic cancer and she was a tanned colour with yellow eyes, Pat is a normal colour. I shall miss her too.
Another case of 'Soap Opera Galloping Cancer ' this one has to be a record first diagnosis to death in under a week !!
I wonder what the medical profession and cancer charities make of it ? It is going to put people off going to the doctor and getting treatment . Many people are so stupid they actually think that this reflects real live. I would not be surprised if a few 100 people die an unnecessary early death due to this abomination of a story line . Average survival rate from diagnosis is well over 10 years now and there is a 50% cure rate , up to 90% cure rate for some cancers given an early diagnosis , this will be nothing to help early treatment and will increase the fear of cancer . My Mum in law said ''If I have cancer I just want to die without ever knowing I have got it'' this type of story will reinforce that fear.
Eddie, my mother died within about four weeks from diagnosis of having cancer, so it can appen very quickly for some people.
I don't watch it but don't like the sound of lasting ONE WEEK! There was the story of Patrick Swayze in the Mail on Sunday today and he lasted 18 months after a very poor diagnosis of a couple of weeks, I agree the soaps are irresponsible, they just frighten the viewers in cases like this.

Eddies I agree with you so much I have seen my dad die a slow painful death of cancer and also an ex girlfriends dad.
brilliant acting from all the E/E crew. Sad to see pat go --sob sob
I used to volunteer in a hospice and heard a fair few stories of people literally having died within days or a week of diagnosis. All sorts of potential factors, type, spread, ignoring/misinterpreting symptoms, other conditions masking it, more silent early forms so diagnosis is only at too late a stage, complications..
how long before shes in holby or cas.My ring my bookie
That is true for some, Sherrard, and particularly for those with certain cancers such as pancreatic and ovarian because invariably, by the time the disease becomes symptomatic, it is incurable.

What is Pat supposed to be dying of anyway?
Hi NoM - think Pat is supposed to have pancreatic cancer.
That only has a 4% survival rate.
Jeez... I need to lighten up. Lol...
Just a bit NoM - I am watching it on Sky+ and I am waiting to see how badly David Wicks has aged.
My mother was diagnosed and died within 4 days.
Sorry to hear that, Neti. X
No prob. it was a long time ago. One day she was walking down the street all tanned (eyes hidden by sunglasses) and looking remarkably well, but she knew she wasn't well, she thought she had jaundice, She died the following Monday, it was a total shock I have to say.
you're looking rather pale and wan yourself, neti. Hopefully Gravatar will sort you out in another hour or so
