My Partner's daughter would like to be officially adopted by him. She is nearly 18 years old so it's too late for a child adoption. How do you go about an adult adoption?

Thank's..... She already has his surname, as it was changed when he married her mother. He was going to adopt her when she was 14 but her mum left him and the kids for another man so never got to do it. the daughter has only recently realised she's not officaly adopted and said she still wants to be.
He must tell her that in his heart she is his daughter and always has been.
I don't know if it would be the same as adopting a child, as she is under 18. Sorry I can't help any further.
Is he the biological father?
I can't help you I'm afraid, but I'd like to say I think that's realy lovely.

No he's not her birth father She was out of a teen pregnancy. but he's been in her life since she was a toddler and married her mother when she was 10 years.

Thanks for advice.... i've emailed adoption uk.... just think its stupid that even though she's 17 mother still has to instigate it and she won't. keep them coming be good to get other's experiences and advice :)
you cant adopt an adult.
but you can adopt a 17 year old - she is still legally a child

The problem is that it will take to long and the mother needs to instigate things. but she is refusing very selfish woman. had afair and left family 4 years ago. still with other guy but also refusing divorce.
well if all that is true, you can't do it i'm afraid

It's such a crap system.... we're meant to be ahead of the times in england. a friend of mine did mention that she knew someone who'd managed it was hoping to get a bit more advice on here. I just also think its unfair for all those who want to be adopted and because of selfish parents and the system can't be.... it add's to a sense of belonging....
Being adopted doesn't add to a sense of belonging, being loved and excepted does, All being adopted does is add to a pile of paperwork.
Agree with Chuck, but it does also change inheritance rights.
you can't actually but she can change her name legally to yours and have a nice meaningful party/ceremony?
