Quite common in open prisons to be let out for days or even longer. Some prisonerss can go out every day and have to report back every night. Because he is a celebrity of some sort then, of course, The Sun has to make a huge story of it. I don't see any problem at all. He is not a danger to anyone and won't be driving.
Well, at the risk of incuring the ire of everyone here, I think it's right and proper that his own child has a much normal contact with his father as possible. This is not to denigrate the memory of the two lads he killed at all, or for his own sorry carcass, but if we are to not exaccerbate the situation and make another child suffer then I think it was the right decision. On a note that might make people feel better, if you are released from prison on compasisonate grounds for a day, it's so much worse when you go back it's almost indescribable, so he won't be feeling great about it.
The fact is he is not a free man, he has not been released from prison. Nox is absolutely right and it is also in the best interests of his little boy, which will have been taken into account.
Definitely WRONG WRONG WRONG

birthday or not.....he did the crime so he should do the time....this little boy is learning from an early age that actions don't seem to have consequences any more....
But he is doing the time. This is normal practice in open prisons, has been for years and years. I doubt whether at 2 years old the little boy is aware about crime and why Dad is in prison. It is important that this 2 year old gets to see his Dad in normal surroundings.
thje child shouldn't suffer for the crimes of the father, so let him enjoy his birthday without all the knowledge!
Right - I agree with Nox.
I know this could be a tricky situation but that little boy will have other birthdays to share with his Dad unlike the victims' families who will share no more birthdays with their children.

Arron and Ben will have no more birthdays thanks to this person.

He should have thought of birthdays with his son before he guzzled the booze....simples
wrong
I wouldn't object to him seeing his son for a quick visit. I don't agree with him having the time to go on a shopping trip and have a meal, though.
I think I.Don.No is spot on.!!
