can the police bring up a conviction i had in 1963,its only a small theif,its just that i wish to apply for a license and i have to not have had a crimal past

what licence are you applying for?
Depends on your sentence and the circumstances of what happened. But an offence that took place over forty years ago...as long as you haven't offended since, then you should be ok?
It depends on what this theft was. The Great Train robbery was 1963- if you are really Ronald Biggs I expect it will show on your CRB check
