what is the purpose of the rehabiliation act when a crb check will show up convictions, spent or other?

i was naughty between 1999/2000 and this will be spent this year (7 yrs) but how can 'spent' be stated when it is still on a basic CRB check. i understand disclosing a record if i wanted to work with kids or elderly (no conviction of this type just to clarify) but why can't a person move on after the conviction is spent

im afaid thats the way it works,if you comit a crime its on your record for life and will show up every time, even if its spent.
That is what you call 'sods law'

Hopefully any future employers will not bother with it, as it gets older and older.
