Why is it that when you attend you are given a Jury ID Number for security reasons but when you enter the courtroom to be sworn in your name is called out infront of the defendants and anyone in the public gallery, ie friends of the defendants?

dunno...sounds a bit silly and potentially dangerous to me x
The defendants are entitled to know who they are being tried by.

They can object to a particular juror - I think. Or is that an urban myth.
the jury should be viewed as a sinlge entity, not as individuals...just knowing someones name does not mean they know who they are being judged by...its just a name...but it is this very fact that makes many people terrified of jurty service and make excuses not to do it...my dad being one of them
