my boyfriend has managed to get fibreglass on his skin, and its driving him mad itching..can anyone give any ideas to soothe, or stop this - will it need any further treatment to remove the slivers?
how long til it is ok...its not major but its annoyin him

hes furious as he apparently wasnt told what the stuff was, having nevr used it before and he was given no protective clothing or even a mask

im angry too - and what makes it worse is the owner of the firm is his dad! otherwise id have reported him, (he wasnt onsite) but no-one else was wearing anything either...

to start with his employer (even if it is his dad) is acting illegally if no protective gear is provided. Depends how much he has been contaminated but I would suggest he gets to A&E if it is bad
You could try selotape, or have a shower or bath.

i totally agree alexanderd and im tempt to anonymously report him...his dad is a swine...but my bf wont bother

i dont think its too bad...hes not bleeding...just itchy and as though hes been bitten or something

hes had loads of showers, which are soothing it...but will this stuff just come off on it own..?
You may find the other lads report him anyway.
fibreglass can be very fine and get in the pores, follow Mamyalynnes link. Matron knows best!!
Report him...he is putting his own sons health at risk...especially if this is his standard practice.

Your bf should at least enter up the incident in the Accident Book at work, every organisation has to have an accident book and near-misses must be reported as well as actual accidents, and they do get inspected by H&S. If you go to hospital or even a walk-in centre then you will get a medical report - this is an industrial injury and dad or not, an employer is legally obliged to protect the health of his staff from "substances hazardous to health" - COSHH regulations, Health & Safey at Work Act, etc.
Taking an antihistamine may help the itching.
