Yes. I've appointed my nieces as my executors and they're mentioned in it.

What if they have been know to con people and edit their wills
The answer is yes- an executor of a will can be a beneficiary. It's very common.
If it goes to probate you can see the will. You can challenge the will if you think they've edited it.
In what way have they edited wills in the past?

A married couple from ??? have appeared in court accused of fixing a will and gaining access to a bank account to steal thousands of pounds from two elderly people
Name???, and his wife Name???, have been charged with theft, fraud, deception and money laundering.
Name??? is alleged to have written himself cheques for £7,000, £4,000 and £1,000 from 87-year-old Name??? bank account which he looked after.
The prosecution alleged he had her Barclay card and PIN, and took a further £2,900 from various cash points.
He is said to have used £3,000 to buy memorabilias, including signed photographs.
He is also accused of changing the will of 85-year-old Name???, who died in 2005, so he could gain a car, £20,000 and the rights to do what he felt necessary with the rest of the estate.
He is accused of using some of the money to buy a car.
The couple were released on conditional bail to appear at ??? Magistrates Court again on August 11.
if you are going to post the full news story why bother removing some of it.

I have always wondered how is a will worded when it is read out to you at the solicitors?....Interesting.
Being executor is not a problem, since it is just a job to do after the death. Being a witness is, presumably because they could be intimidating the will writer to leave things to them.

Didn't know how easy that story was to find. Names were removed for my reasons
Interesting story but I'm not sure what you are now asking. A beneficiary can be an executor but not a witness as well. Forging a will seems to be a criminal offence.

Is there any more you need to know?
just so you know, if beneficiaries of will join together and say they are not happy with it because it is inefficient for inheritance tax, then they may variate it in a 'deed of variation' which must be done withint two years of the subjects death, signed and agreed to by all beneficiaries and must be done voluntarilly, i.e. not forced.
or for any reason why they may be unhappy with it
So far as i know you can have who you like to execute your will (not sure what would happen if they were actually in jail at the time)
Yes, I am sole beneficiary and executor of my ex's will.
My two sisters and I were all beneficiaries and joint executors; however they elected me to be sole executor.
My sister and her husband were witnesses to my parents wlll, it was also witnessed by two people from the Solicitor's office. Besides being the executor she is also a beneficiary of the will, in fact at the end of it all she will benefit more that me and my sister.
Hi soxy i am executor of my mothers estate and yes i will be a beneficiary
I was under the impression that a witness to a Will can't be a beneficiary?
I was with Tony when the will was signed, but I'm not a witness, Box. The solicitor called his secretary to witness the will.
Yes I saw you'd said that NoM (and me and my OH were present when each other's were signed but we didn't witness) but other posters are saying that they are witnesses as well as beneficiary (unless I have misunderstood)
You are right boxtops- askyourgran said someone was a witness and is a beneficiary.
(However I couldn'tr eally follow what askyourgran says because she says her sister is a benficiary to her parents' will and the sister will benefit more than she and her sister will. That only makes sense to me if she is talking about two different sisters of hers.)
