When you want a landline from BT, do you need to provide identification to verify who you are before
one is installed????

Im asking as have discovered a family member took out a Bt phone line in my name using my D.O.B too. I want to know before i go to the police as if they did need I.D then i want a copy off of Bt.

Does anybody know. Thanks

I don't think they ask for ID, but they would have done a credit check, so you may want to get onto that too.
They usually ask for mothers maiden name to verify who you are.
I have a friend who always makes up his mothers maiden name, as that information is so easily accessible by everyone. His best fake-maiden name was 'Drynipples'

Quite a good idea securitywise - the problem comes when you need to remember which name you used........
if it is in your name using your DOB call BT and cancel the phone, surely that is the easiest thing to do for now?
