Hi, I will do my best to keep this short.
I have placed an order with a company to fit granite worktops in my kitchen. It turns out that there was a mistake on the quotation and a couple of items were missing form the quote. I spoke with the company this morning and I accept that it was my responsibilty to check tthat the quote was correct and advise of any discrepancies. The temaplaters came to my house yesterday to 'measure up' and this is when the discrepancy was discovered. I would now like to cancel my order as the additional cost are too much, and now want to get a refund of the £1700 I have already paid. The quotation states the following clause, 'Failure to provide at least one week's notice of date changes or cancellation will result in a £200 cancellation fee being applied'. I accept this £200 fee, but the company want to charge an additional £150 to cover the templating costs. I am not at all happy with this as nowhere on the quote is anything stated regarding this, it only states the £200 cancellation fee.Surely this cannot be legal if it is not on the quote of Terms and conditions.

If anyone can offer any legal advice, this would be most appreciated. Also, is there any legal body I can approach if this company still insist on this additional £150 fee?

Sounds unlikely they could make the additional £150 charge so resist it. Go and see CAB as suggested above.
Wait and see what they do - probably they will drop the idea once you've written explaining why it is not your problem to pay the extra charge.
