on the way back from a trip to Poland decided it was ok for my son to go off to his dad'd house instead of bringing him back to the school to be collected by me as arranged. His dad and I don't speak, he has barely moved back to the area and If they BOTHERED to call me to ask if it was ok i would have REFUSED.

Sorry just had to vent a bit.....

vent away chelle
As it was previously arranged, go to school and vent at them as well. Why did they feel the need to break the arrangement would be my first question to them.
have they been advised that you dont wish the father to be able to have access to your child via the school?

I dont understand how they may be expected to know if not.

If you have notified them of your wishes and they have gone against them then make a formal complaint to the head

Oh I've already hammered out an email to them, as the bus had not yet returned to the school and I've had to come back to work.

His dad is not a contact for them - they had no idea where they letting him go and he wwas under their supervision!
Was it just your son or did they let other children get off the bus at their homes too? If they did, was it at thechildren's reuests or the parents?

Issues between you and your husbad aside it does seem irresponsible to have children getting off the bus at random points instead of the pre arranged drop off at school.

That very ex-husband by the way - and yes the school are were made aware when he started that his dad was not a contact and was not to collect him. Whilst typing this, the school have called to apologise. he claimed he thought that the address my son was going to was my house (although my address is on the paperwork and is nowhere near there) and that my partner Simon, clearly named as such on the contact form was his dad!
Still I've calmed down a bit now. Thanks for listening all :)
so who had given them the address? was it your son? How old is he? was his father expecting him?

how on earth can they change plans like that without checking that its correct, they may have dropped him at an empty house
I think this is a totally shocking event , please pursue it personally with the Headteacher before another child is placed at risk by sheer incompetence.
You don\'t speak to your son\'s father, but he obviously does. Your son preferred to be dropped off with his father, even though he must have known that you would be waiting for him. That\'s what you need to sort out, your argument with the school is a side issue.
