Washing jeans inside out

Why are we advised to wash jeans inside out? It surely can't be to prevent them fading when hanging on the line to dry as they're worn in bright sunlight all the time.

because the dye in the denim is greater on the outside of the jeans therefore more chance of rubbing dye onto other clothing
Also, if they're right side out, where creases rub against the inside of the machine it can remove some dye, ending up giving the jeans a streaky look.
