What would the likely outcome be, for a mother allowing her 21 year old son to grow canabis in their home?

What's the punishment for a intent to supply canabis?Would avoiding arrest influence this?

Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1971, it is an offence for the occupier of premises to allow the supply, use, or production of drugs to take place on those premises.

Less than 10% of convicted drug users / producers are imprisoned.

Max penalty for supply, dealing, production and trafficking
is 14 years imprisonment as cannabis is now returned to Class B. The following extract from the CPS sentencing manual may be helpful to you:

As to the last part of your question - that's unlikely unless it could be shown you were deliberately obstructing the process of law.

Thanks uno - That statistic is shocking!

So is it likely that they will both get away with this?
there wasn't a huge amount of canabis, not nearly as much as mentioned in the link.

Personally I'm torn between family loyalty, and wanting the book to be thrown at them, in the hope it will knock some sense into both of them!
Much will depend on the mitigating factors, e.g. first offender, age & infirmity, medicinal use?, small numbers for "personal" use ?

They won't get away with it but if we're talking smaller amounts then fines or community service are certainly possible.

1st time offence for both of them, age 47 and 21, both fit and healthy with no medical conditions, and I know that it wasn't just for personal use, but not sure if the police can prove that! I'm ot sure of the quantity, or strength of the canabis but I know he was using hydroponics etc.

Do you have any ideas what amounts they could be fined or would that also depend on the circumstances? Not that it matters really, my mother will pay and my brother will learn nothing!
Sorry, I've no idea what fines they're likely to receive ... courts can be wildly different. It's very sad where sons treat parents like this. Although you're mum is partly to blame for they way he behaves (spoilt b@st@rd by the sounds of things) you'd think he'd have some respect for his own mother !

LOL, you're spot on! oh well will just have to wait and see. Thanks for your replies though.
