I have been renting my cottage for 17 months & neither my boiler or gas hob has been serviced. Because i've had the boiler fixed twice whilst living here i assumed they automaticly serviced it as well but was told no by the engineer & said it should be done every 12 months by law. I put a note in with my rent last month to my landlord explaining this but heard nothing from him?

Then try quoting this at him.
As a landlord of a residential property you are obliged under the Gas Safety Installation and Use Regulations 1998 to ensure that all gas appliances in a let property are properly maintained and serviced. There is a legal requirement to have an annual safety test carried out of all gas appliances on the property.
You must obtain a new certificate every year and the certificate must be issued by a CORGI registered engineer.

Thats fantastic! Thanks Buildersmate
My landlord didn't check our boiler or gas fire for 3 years....what makes it worse is that he is a gas fitter by trade (no longer CORGI registered though),so should know better! Thankfully he got someone to check it a couple of months ago.
