Can anyone recommend a solicitor in the Kingston on Thames area who is competitively priced, for conveyancing please?

Google 'licensed conveyancer' and go from there.
Is there a good reason why you want one in K-o-T? - I find the telephonic and postal system pretty reliable these days. My last conveyancer was 250 miles away in Manchester and I never went near the bod. They aren't so hungry for money up there.
I'm testement to that (cheaper and in Manchester) haha :)

It is true, you don't have to be anywhere near your solicitor as it can all be done by e.mail, phone and post.

Licenced conveyancers can be cheaper but to a certain extent it depends on the kind of service you want, as my mum always said, you get what you pay for.

You're not right keen on us solicitors are you buildersmate :)
Sorry, that wasn't meant to be a slight on LC's (some of the best lawyers I know aren't qualified), was more referring to the influx of sausage factory conveyancing.

Do you know anyone local who has had conveyancing done recently who can recommend someone? Local agents usually had a good idea of decent local people as well though some do refer for kickbacks as is probably more common now.

Definitely see if you can get a discount, it's a client's market at the mo, work is slow and firms need the business.
