I have been offered voluntary redundancy at work with a years salary,(as opposed to compulsary redundancy).
Am I allowed to sign on the dole,or claim job seekers allowance straight away?
Thanks for any info.

Not until the end of your contractual notice period expires.
It doesn't actually matter whether you take voluntary or compulsory redundancy - the same applies.
Your contractual notice period will depend how long you have been working there - but since you are being offered 12 months salary, one assumes you've been there some while. It is likely to be between 4 and 12 weeks.
The 'dole' is Job Seekers' Allowance.
Bear in mind that redundancy sums over 30k are taxable (the element over 30k is).
