I would like to find out how it would work to set up a contract.
My partner and I did a joint investment 50/50 and it is in his name.
I need a contract of some sort to say that we have done this 50/50 and that I should get 50% of the return of the investment.
How do I go about? Anyone help please?

50/50.
But in His Name.

Cet a proper contract drawn up.
Yup. Otherwise who's to say you just didn't gift him a sum of money to spend as he wished?
