My friend recetntly had his contract at work withdrawn with immediate effect from the resukt of his CRB check from petty crimes committed when he was 15 year ago he is now 43 what can he do now, he did not realise these would be made a permanent thing on his file. Any idea of what he could do?

If his employers have a policy of not employing persons with criminal records of a certain type, there's nothing he can do. He can't change his record now even if the convictions are spent so you should suggest to him that he gets a job where a CRB check is not required.
when he was 15 or 15 years ago? There is a big difference. I would probably choose to ignore a 15yr old's pretty crime if I felt my business and staff were no longer at risk, but not a adults. I doubt there is much he can do except appeal to his company as a record stays with you for life.
Your friend's convictions are now regarded as 'spent' for most purposes so he can normally lawfully answer 'No' to questions asking whether he's ever been convicted:

However, a criminal record is for life and his convictions will always appear on a CRB check. CRB checks are generally only carried out for occupations which are exempted from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. (e.g. those working with, or alongside, children or vulnerable adults - or jobs involving security or the administration of justice).

All your friend can do now is to restrict his job applications to posts which don't require CRB checks.

criminal convictions stay on your record for life,although they should now be spent,and they will allways show up on a crb check,when you say petty crimes,what do you mean,if its to do with money and your friend works with money,then you cant really blame them for sacking him.
he shouldn't have breaked the law. I don't.
It could possibly be because he may have misled his employer which led to the initial appointment rather than the fact that he has pre cons.
